SUNDAY 19th July

Keyworth, Wysall and Widmerpool - The Nottinghamshire Wolds 8 miles

Alan led a repeat of this walk previously completed in May. A different season and differing views. The walk began at Keyworth Village Hall and then we took a bridleway and then across fields to the picturesque village of Wysall where they stopped for coffee. They continued across fields through the gently undulating Wolds arriving in Widmerpool for lunch, before returning to Keyworth. There were a number of stiles and bridges to negotiate and some of the fields were quite uneven.

Farnsfield Kirklington 5.6 miles

A mornings walk from Farnsfield finishing in the sports field with a picnic lunch. The route crossed open countryside to Kirklington before returning via the old watermill, old station and Edingley village. The group watched as huge flock of sheep were let out of the farm at Osmanthorpe Manor creating a dust storm and isolating one of the group.

SUNDAY 26h July

Robin Hood's Stride from Southwell to Halam and back 9 miles

Dave led the Merry Walkers who followed part of the Robin Hood Way, through beautiful countryside around Southwell, exploring the historic Minster Town and the idyllic village of Halam.

WEDNESDAY 29th July

Lambley Dumbles 6.2 miles

Twelve of us braved the heat for a circular walk from Lambley led by Nick and Lynn. Although the weather was hot there was a breeze and enough shade for most of the walk to not make it too oppresive. It was fascinating to see how the prolonged drought has changed the landscape. The first time we did this walk in December 2024 we were having to make detours due to the depth of the mud.  Now every where is very parched, and though the golden fields are beautiful it looks like the harvest might be rather poor. As always the company was excellent, you don’t notice the heat when there are so many interesting conversations going on.
