Thoresby Vale Country Park 7.5 miles
Anne led this walk to Nottinghamshire's newest country park starting from Edwinstowe Village. The park includes woodland and heathland with panoramic views to enjoy from the highest point. Telescopes were available to see interesting features close up. The history of the former Thoresby Colliery and the wildlife that now inhabits the site is detailed on the many information boards.

WEDNESDAY 21st January
Belton Park 6.2 miles
Peter organised this walk led by a National Trust ranger who shared information (history, nature, geology and much more) about the area during the walk. The circular walk took in some fantastic vistas, including open areas of woodland pastures with ancient trees and an historic deer herd. The coffee cum lunch stop in Londonthorpe Church was the highlight providing shelter from the wet weather and homemade cakes and pastries with a well-earned drink.

SUNDAY 25th January
Lincs Limewoods and Minting 8.5 miles
A long trip into Lincolnshire for this walk led by Chris Starting in Minting, the walk took them around Chambers Farm Wood and back via Gautby. Along with many other woodlands within a large swathe of surrounding countryside, Chambers Farm Wood forms part of what is known collectively as the Lincolnshire limewoods (ancient woodlands known to be more than 600 years old) and is renowned for its diverse wildlife population. Not the best of days but better than the forecast.

WEDNESDAY 28th January
Attenborough Nature Reserve 4 miles
Just a small group with Julie today wandering around the Nature reserve at Attenborough. Julie reported that it was a nice sunny day and a lovely walk. They all went to the cafe and visitor centre afterwards. I am told the colourful bird is an Egyptian Duck. Please let us know if you think we are wrong.

Rufford Abbey with Mal 6.5 miles
A lovely day for a walk. A pleasant change following all the recent rain. Mal took a group of twenty from South Forest Leisure Centre down to the River Maun where we had a quick coffee stop before heading into Edwinstowe. The route then followed the railway line past the old Thoresby colliery site and on to Rufford Abbey. With the sun shining on us we enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the gardens before returning to our start. A relatively mud free walk due to the sandy soil in the area
