Sconce and Farndon 5.5 miles

Paul and Rosemary led a delightful walk from Sconce Park to Farndon and back. It’s amazing how soon you are out in pleasant countryside by the Devon and the Trent. As always lovely to catch up with everyone while walking along

Quorn Steam Train 9 miles

Thanks to Izzie for offering this further opportunity to enjoy the Great Central heritage railway. The group met at Quorn and Woodhouse station and travelled on the steam train to Rothley. The return walk of 9 miles passed through villages of Rothley, Cropston and Woodhouse Eaves. Take a look at Kate’s photos which help to tell the story of the day.

SUNDAY 9th August

Meet the Greet and Trent 7 miles

A gentle walk for a Summer day.

They met by the Trent at Fiskerton, wandered to Rolleston (holiday home of Kate Greenaway, the famous children's book illustrator) passing by Southwell racecourse and crossing the River Greet. Caroline them up a gentle ascent to Upton Church for a coffee break with wide views of the Trent Valley. They returned via Fiskerton and Morton finishing back along the Trent.

WEDNESDAY 12th August

East Bridgford 5.4 miles

Thanks to Maggie for this short walk on a hot day. She reported: We were a small group on a hot day, but we had a good walk, with a shady stop at East Bridgford church. I made some changes to the route so that we could pick plums, but the distance was as advertised, and we were back before the afternoon heat.
