WEDNESDAY 1st April

Bestwood Country Park 8.1 miles

A regular favourite this time led by Steve. A circular walk to Mill Lakes and Bestwood Winding Engine House. Mostly good level paths along tracks and roads. One short steep section. Lots of lovely views, and interesting history about Nell Gwyn and Nottingham's early industrial legacy.

SUNDAY 5th April

Belvoir Circular 6.5 miles

Alan provided another opportunity to walk around Belvoir Castle area this time getting some good views as the day was clearer. They started in Woolsthorpe-By-Belvoir and walked through fields to Belvoir Castle and then joined the Jubilee Way before dropping down to the lovely villages of Knipton and Harston. A significant part of this walk was along quiet roads, but verges were available for most of the route.

WEDNESDAY 8th April

Gunthorpe Burton Joyce 6 miles

Julie led the walk and reported:

Twenty people in total on the walk. It was a lovely still sunny day. We met at the Unicorn car park and followed the footpath by the River Trent straight down to Burton Joyce village centre, where we had a coffee stop at Burton Joyce community centre gardens. We then followed the farm track past the farm then took the footpath round the fishing lakes, also taking in Gunthorpe nature reserve on the way back. Drinks and lunch at the Unicorn after.

SUNDAY 12th April

Retford Grove Little Gringley 8 miles

Thanks to Tony for repeating this walk for our Sunday walkers. This time he extended the walk a further 1.5 miles. He reported as follows:

Our walk today started by following the Chesterfied Canal for about a mile. We then followed tracks and cross field paths- we arrived at Grove for a lunch stop. Again, crossing a couple of fields and a track, we approached Gringley Grange where we had to halt and shelter for several minutes from a very heavy downpour of hail. Our walk finished by walking down "shady lane” back to our cars. At several points along the route, we had great views over Retford.
