Two Sides of Baslow 8 miles

A circular route exploring both sides of Baslow led by Caroline. They initially headed south through Chatsworth Park before turning north up to Blackstone Edge and back to Baslow.

Caroline reported “We got round the 8 mile route in record time and enjoyed sunshine and Autumn colours in Chatsworth park before the refreshing drizzle on Gardom’s Edge. The highland cattle were hiding under the trees, but we did spot some wild cyclists and walkers. It was good to welcome Mike and Linda from Breckland Ramblers group.”

WEDNESDAY 22nd October

Barrowby and Beyond 6.3 miles

Thanks to Tony for leading this walk. He left the following report: “Super weather for this walk today, with 17 members taking part. Starting from Barrowby we went downhill to meet the Grantham canal. There were fine views of Belvoir Castle over to our left hand side. After taking a lunch break by the canal side, we then made the uphill track via “surprise view" a great view spot to see the distance landscape. Barrowby village was not very far ahead.”

Stapleford Brough Circular 7.3 miles

An interesting walk with the main aim of seeing the Lancaster Bomber installation “On freedom Wings” finally established in the Bomber County of Lincolnshire just north of Brough. Izzie took us from Stapleford through Brough finally getting site of the large structure next to Brills farm on Newark Road Norton Disney. We returned back through Stapleford Wood past the gravel pits where we watched the long moving belt carry the gravel for washing.
