Balderton, Woodborough and Birchover

WEDNESDAY 11th June

Balderton Trail 5 miles.

Joyce led this walk, which initially went from Fernwood to Balderton Village and then around the newly signed Spring Lane trail.  They stopped at the green on Mead Way for a refreshment break, then followed the remainder of the trail and then back to Fernwood.

The Village Trail is a circular two-mile walk around the historic village and conservation area in Balderton. It has stopping points every few hundred yards, providing benches and information boards. The Trail links many of the footpaths and public rights of way in Balderton. Further details of the trail can be found by clicking this link https://www.newarkguide.co.uk/baldertontrail

Woodborough 7.1 miles

This walk in the beautiful countryside around Woodborough was led by Steve. It took us through the villages of Woodborough and Calverton, across fields,  up hills and through the ancient woodland of Fox Wood

An interesting walk with some great views, and as always great company.

SUNDAY 15th June

Birchover 7.5 miles.

Chris led this latest trip into the white Peak area of Derbyshire. It was a circular walk from Birchover taking in the villages of Bradford, Alport and Stanton in Peak. They an historic hermit's cave, Robin Hood's Stride and the Nine Sisters stones. It was a varied walk going through woodland, moorland and beside a river, part of it along the Limestone Way. There was some road-walking on quiet roads. There were a number of stone wall stiles, a few busy roads to cross, cattle, and a long, steady incline up to the village of Stanton.
