SATURDAY 15th February
Branston 7 miles
A Saturday Walk, whatever next! Margaret led the way and reported:
Our annual walk at Branston for the snowdrops! Despite the weather forecast an intrepid six of us enjoyed a 7 mile walk through the woods at Branston and across tracks to Heighington on a cold but dry day. We saw lots of snowdrops and on our return to Branston there were more snowdrops and aconites. We all negotiated the stepping stones without incident! We welcomed Andrea, a guest from Nottingham, who said she would probably join us again.

WEDNESDAY 19th February
Linby Newstead 6.2 miles
A bitterly cold day for the walk. We set off from Church Lane Linby, with Sue leading the way, along the trail to Newstead Abbey. A welcome warming coffee stop in front of the Abbey, once the home for a short while of Lord Byron. We returned via Robin Hoods Way to Papplewick stopping at St James Church for a lunch break. Luckily the church was opened up for us to have a look inside. Sited in Papplewick Hall estate, It was built in the 14th century albeit only part of the tower remained when it was rebuilt in 1795.

Blidworth Bottoms 7.5 miles
Twelve of us went on a walk round Blidworth Bottoms, led by Anne. It was a great walk, mainly in woodland, including one or two hills a bit of a rarity on Newark Ramblers walk. Part of the walk took us through Blidworth itself, an interesting small town, which made an interesting contrast to the countryside around it. As always it was lovely to be in the company of such a friendly bunch of people.
