Two Walks prior to the Christmas Lunch at The Full Moon in Morton
Morton Fiskerton Bleasby 3.5 miles and 5.6 miles
Steve and Bob each took a group from the pub car park down to the river at Fiskerton before following the Tent to Hazelford. Bob took the short way back across the fields whereas Steve went via Bleasby following beside the railway back to the pub arriving by 12.35 ready to have lunch at 1 o’clock
Bob noted: A cool and pleasant morning for our pre Xmas lunch walk, leaving from Morton, taking the footpath to Fiskerton where we joined the riverside footpath which we followed to Hazleford Weir. Our route then took us over some muddy fields to Fiskerton Grange before returning to Morton for our Xmas lunch

WEDNESDAY 10th December
Kiddey Trail Newark 4.5 miles
Joyce led this wander around Newark visiting some of the key locations relating to the life and work of Robert Kiddey (1900 – 1984), sculptor and artist of Newark. They called at the Newark Gallery of art, the National Civil War Centre and the Newark Town Hall Museum, where there were exhibitions of his art.

North Scarle 8 miles
After so much rain we were all concerned it would be wet underfoot especially as it was Tony leading. One who is noted for his muddy walks. This time he manages to find the flooded river fleet complete with submerged bridge
Tony reported: After a few days of rain our walk today was fairly dry under foot. Starting from N Scarle we walked across several fields to S. Scarle where we had a tea break on the small village green. Our next destination was Besthorpe. We circled around to approach the village from the back but found the area was flooded. The river Fleet could not be recognised. -- Had to retrace foot steps to Besthorpe to see where our footbridge to cross should be--- completely submerged in flood water. Had lunch stop here, then travelled on back to N Scarle.

SUNDAY 14th December
Chasing pavements round Southwell 6 miles
Caroline reported: Eighteen of us merrily tramped the pavements and lanes of Southwell, taking in the Workhouse, Higgons Mead, the Minster, the trim trail, Westhorpe, Cundy hill, Brackenhurst, the site of the south well and the Southwell orchard on our route. As we passed through Westhorpe a local resident commented on how nice it was to see so many walkers visiting their village. And indeed, it was! We were happy too to welcome 6 guests and toast Christmas in the Final Whistle at the end of the walk.
