Padley, London and Bevercotes

SUNDAY 15th September

Padley Gorge 8 miles

A trip to the Longshaw estate for a circular walk led by Anne B. It took in three iconic Peak District highlights. Padley Gorge, Millstone Edge and Higger Tor. There were a couple of short steep ascents and descents. Padley Gorge is a deep but narrow valley following Burbage Brook which goes through a twisting ancient oak forest. It is between the village of Grindleford and the A6187 road.

MONDAY 18th September

London 6.5 miles

Carol and Judy took the group to London on the East Coast mainline and then a tube to High Street Kensington where the walk began. They visited the areas around Kensington, Bayswater and Belgravia enjoying time in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. There were lots of lovely, interesting building to admire en route. They returned to Kings Cross by tube from Marble Arch before journeying home. A good day out on a fine day.

WEDNESDAY 18th September

A Walk to Conjure with (Bevercotes) 9 miles

Joyce led a group of us on a very pleasant walk in the area of Bevercotes Pit woods. The walk included the ruined chapel of now disappeared village, and a 'cave' reputed to have been used by Robin Hood.

A great walk and as always great company.
