WEDNESDAY 2nd October
Shelford 5.2 miles
Congratulations and Well Done to Julie and Dee for leading their first walk for us. The walk included sections along the top of Shelford Hill, with gave exceptional views of the village and the Trent Valley. They retuned down to River Trent and along part of the flood wall passing the old ferry.

SUNDAY 6th October
Bradgate Park 9.7 miles
A morning to enjoy the moorland and extensive views around Bradgate Park. James led the group across Bradgate Park and uphill to St Johns Tower which stands at 212 metres. They continued through Swithland Wood and down Rushey Lane to find the Great Central Railway. The return was via Woodhouse Eaves and a further climb back to the start.

WEDNESDAY 9th October
Stapleford Wood 6.4 miles
Maggie led a large group of us on an interesting walk around Stapleford Woods today. There were lots of fungi, though none of us were brave enough to pick any. As always a great walk with lovely people, full of fun conversations. Maggie commented:” In spite of the unpromising forecast, we were lucky today, with only one short shower and some lovely sunshine at the end of the walk. It was a big group, but we managed not to lose anyone.”

SUNDAY 13th October
Quorn Rothley 8.2 miles
All aboard the 10.09 steam train from Quorn Station. A short trip to Rothley Station on the Great Central Heritage Railway and then a walk back. Izzie led the group on this interesting trip. The route back went via Thurcaston, Crompton, Swithland Wood and Woodhouse Eaves. Quorn station is set in the 1940s and includes the NAAFI (tiny cafe) on the platform under the bridge.
