SUNDAY 23rd JUNE

Ancaster Culverthorpe and Kelby 8.2 miles

Thanks to Tony for repeating the walk he did a year ago. He reported:

Eight of us turned out, on this beautiful June day.  Walking through Ancaster nature reserve we travelled down to Culverthorpe Manor, then skirted   the lake.  Moving onto Kelby, we had our lunch break by the village pond. On the approach back to Ancaster we passed an amazing display of poppies .  A lovely walk, great weather.

WEDNESDAY 26th JUNE

Meet the Greet 5.5 miles

Caroline led a group of about 18 of us on a figure of eight walk starting from Fiskerton. Initially a wander to Rolleston (holiday home of Kate Greenaway, the famous children's book illustrator), then a gentle ascent to Upton for a coffee break with wide views of the Trent Valley, before returning back to the start point. The River Greet is a small river in Nottinghamshire. Rising close to the village of Kirklington, it flows in a southeasterly direction past Southwell and Rolleston to meet the River Trent at Fiskerton. A beautiful walk on a beautiful day. With temperatures rising it was blissful to get soaked by the sprinklers on the golf course we walked through on the way. (see pictures)

THURSDAY 27th JUNE

Pie Walk at Farndon approx. 3.5 miles

A second coming of the pie walk! This time it was a warm evening albeit windy at times. Down by the river we heard the unmistakeable sound of oystercatchers and spotted a Heron overhead. Thanks again to Steve and Andrea.

SUNDAY 30th JUNE

Meet the Greet repeat 7 miles

Caroline and Dave repeated Wednesday Walk to accommodate our Sunday walkers. This time the temperature was somewhat cooler with a light shower thrown in. The walk was extended this time to include Morton Village and a walk to the finish along the Trent.
