SUNDAY 25th February

Bunny Gotham 6.7 miles

Peter and Judith led the way from The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Bunny, down Moor Lane and over Bunny Moor. They crossed the disused Great Central Railway, following Farnham Brook to Gotham. They visited St Lawrence Church before returning via Moor Lane and bridleway on a parallel southern route back to Bunny. A strange name for a village. Nothing to do with rabbits but thought to mean either 'reed island' or 'island on the river Bune'.

WEDNESDAY 28thFebruary

Stoke Bardolph 4.5 miles.

A short walk from Maggie, starting from the riverside carpark on the Trent. Due to all the rain the river was extremely high and fast flowing. The walk was, mainly on good paths, following the river passing the Stoke Lock and circling the Netherfield Lagoons.

Lambley Dumbles 5.5 miles

Thanks to Bob for finding a way to go ahead with this walk despite all the rain in the previous week.

He reported:  Pleasant walking conditions prevailed after the heavy rain in the previous few days (a few muddy places!) which had meant the original route had to be changed. 22 walkers, including a new member Ann Hayes & guest Andy Metcalfe set off down through the Lambley Dumbles, into the village, stopping for coffee in the children’s park! We then continued through mud before entering Gedling Country Park, thankfully on hard footpaths & where lunch was taken. After lunch it was down to the lagoons returning via the 2 viewing platforms where unfortunately the likes of Belvoir Castle & Lincoln Cathedral couldn't be seen because of poor visibility.
