WEDNESDAY 17th April

Flawborough and Shelton 5.1miles

We walked a modified route to avoid some very muddy sections, but the distance was much the same (5.1miles). There were 15 of us, including a visitor from Shropshire, and we were able to enjoy a coffee stop in the sun in Shelton.

Cropwell Butler Bingham 7.8 miles

A mud free walk starting from Cropwell Butler Village Hall. We headed north through the village and then across to Bingham over open farmland. After carefully crossing the A52 we headed down the Bingham Linear Park, which is the route of the defunct Great Northern Railway. Part way down we came upon a group of environmentalists who were creating habitats for the Grizzled Skipper Butterfly. One of their number gave us an interesting talk on the Butterfly. The park stops where the line used to cross the River Smite which we followed heading to Tythby for a lunch stop. We avoided muddy pathways by following the roadway through the southern half of the village back to the start.

SUNDAY 21st April

Parwich Tissington 9.4 miles

Thanks to Dave for the trip to Parwich in the Peak District of Derbyshire.

He reported: We were fortunate to enjoy perfect walking weather in stunning countryside. Along the way, we visited Alsop-en-le-Dale, the Tissington Trail, and Tissington Village. There were many beautiful views, including the dramatic Dovedale valley. Some steep climbs, but worth every step.
