WEDNESDAY 10th April

Newstead 7 miles

Thanks to Bob who reported as follows:

17 walkers started from Annesley Country Park car park along the Linby Trail into the picturesque village of Linby. From there, walking a path by the side of the dyke and through fields towards Papplewick where a coffee break was taken in St James Church grounds.

Our route then took us along the Robin Hood Way and into Newstead Abbey Park where lunch was taken.

Fortunately, it was a short walk back to the car park as rain had begun to fall.

Everyone seemed pleased as there was very little mud on our walk today!

Meander by the Maun 7.75miles

The original route that James intended us to take today had to be changed due to the level of water in the river Maun. Instead we had an interesting route from Ollerton, through the grounds of Rufford Abbey and then back to Ollerton via Wellow.  Along the way we visited the infamous Rufford Ford that was a Youtube sensation a year or so ago and had lunch while surveying the maypole in Wellow. Another excellent ramble in enjoyable company.

SUNDAY 14th April

Hough on the Hill 8 miles

Thanks to Tony for the walk. He reported:

What a great day for walking   in the English countryside - blue skies, white clouds and NO RAIN.  Our walk started in Hough on the hill- we walked over to Gelston where we had an early coffee stop.  We passed many newborn lambs in the surrounding fields.

Our next stop was at Carlton Scroop Church for a lunch break. Carrying on through Normanton we made our way back to Hough on the hill.

One noticeable fact on this walk was all the wet muddy ground had dried out.
