We were delighted to receive the following article from Alan Hudson (a member of Newark Ramblers). Alan, together with Jacob Florijn (Grantham Ramblers) has been instrumental in setting up this new right of way which Ramblers has been very happy to support:   

          On Monday 14 October nearly forty people from a wide variety of organisations smiled in pouring rain as photographs were taken to mark the start of construction of a new path through the Notts Wildlife Trust Reserve at Besthorpe.

          The new path will form part of the Trent Vale Trail project to create a ‘Path for All’ to link Newark with the villages to the east of the River Trent as far north as Fledborough Viaduct. The two mile section currently under construction will link Collingham with Besthorpe via a path that will be suitable for all abilities, ages and weathers and will be accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. The part following the improved byway of Northcroft lane should be complete in another month whilst the completely new right of way through the reserve should be open early in 2020.
